Pickering nominated Ramsey Creek for the Renew Rural Iowa award. Farm Bureau's Sandy Ehrig was on hand for the ceremony, along with John Berdo and Jerry Anderson, their banker, Dave Hostetler of Hills Bank in Kalona, and Ed Raber from the Washington Economic Development Group.
Past area Renew Rural Iowa award winners include John Mitchell, founder of M.D. Orthopaedics in Wayland, Iowa.

CUSTOM IMPRESSIONS of Washington recently won, for the third time, the national Silver Manufacturer of the Year for 2010 by Marking Industry Magazine. The Silver award is for growth of mid-sized stamp and impression businesses. Marcus and Heather Fedler have owned the business since the mid-2000s and have achieved some significant growth. The company grew by 27.4% from 2009 to 2010.
They previously won the Silver award in 2007 and 2008.
Fedlers moved the business to the north side of the Washington town square in 2008, which gave them an opportunity to expand both the manufacturing and retail side of the business. They have five employees and continue to grow into new business opportunities. They sell their products nationally.
If their growth continues, soon they will move up into the "Gold" category and will probably win that award too.
