David M. Wright, 72, of Iowa City, passed away Monday, Oct. 10, 2016, at the Mercy Iowa City Hospice Unit. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hills, with Father Michael Spiekermeier officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service,
Iowa City, with a rosary at 3:30 p.m. and vigil at 7 p.m.
David was born Dec. 4, 1943, at the Ancon Canal Zone, Panama, the son of David T. and Pauline M. (Hermes) Wright. He was the owner of Crown Electric from 1983 until he retired. David was united in marriage to Kay Sladek in 1976 in Iowa City. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Iowa City AeroHawks and Iowa City Homebuilders Association.
David is survived by his wife, Kay Evans; daughter, Cheryl (John) Sudbay and their children, Jason M. Wright and his son, Jason W. Wright, and J.T. Sudbay, all of Dallas, Texas; stepson, Brian Evans, and children, Cheyanne and Skyler Evans of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and brother, Michael (Barbara) Wright of Atlanta, Ga.
David was preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law, Hope Evans.
