Wright, Roger Owen

Roger Owen Wright, 76, of Marion, fell asleep in death on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013. Roger's wishes were to be cremated, with a celebration of life held at noon Saturday, Nov. 2, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will follow the celebration of life from 1 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Roger is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Rose Lee Wright of Marion; four children, Randal (Gwen) Wright of Cedar Rapids, Rhonda (Sid) Miller and Robyn (Steve) Miller, both of Florida, and Ruthann (Brian) Miller of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; and a brother, William Wright of Savana, Ill.

Roger Owen Wright was born May 5, 1937, in Elkader, Iowa, the son of Valmah and Myrtle (Mentzel) Wright. He married Rose Lee Klink on Aug. 18, 1957, in Elkader. Roger farmed 40 years in Northeast Iowa until retiring in Manchester and most recently Marion.

Roger was a longtime member of Jehovah's Witnesses. He loved the outdoors and had the ability to make friends with people wherever he went.

Roger will always be loved, remembered kindly, and missed greatly by those who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Wright family.
