Grim, Wilma Arlene Galloway
Wilma Arlene Galloway Grim, 94, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011. Memorial services: 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, where a visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Inurnment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Katie Hopper will officiate. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her sister, Eleanor VanValkenburg of Charmichael, Calif.; four children, Judy Spencer and husband Bob of San Antonio, Texas, Sharon Grim of Cedar Rapids, Peter Grim and wife Madelyn of San Tan Valley, Ariz., and Scott Grim and wife Susan of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, David Spencer and wife Jill of San Antonia, Texas, Suzi Froelich of McQueeney, Texas, Michael Grim and wife Tonya of Omaha, Neb., and Christopher Grim of Urbana; her great-grandchildren, Matthew, Ava, Chloe, Dillon and Alex; and a great-great-grandson, Logan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Beulah; husband, Dawson E. Grim; a sister, Roberta Carey; and brothers, Don and Eugene Galloway.
Wilma was born in Washington, Iowa, on Oct. 16, 1917, to Frank and Beulah Galloway. Her childhood was spent in Postville, Iowa, where she graduated from Postville High School in 1935. She graduated from Coe College in 1939. She married Dr. Dawson E. Grim on Sept. 1, 1940, and they made their home in Cedar Rapids.
Wilma belonged to several volunteer groups, including American Red Cross, Linn Community Food Bank, was a past president of Chapter HJ-PEO, was board member of Linnhaven, and was a 70-year member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at Keystone Cedar for the wonderful time while she lived there, and the wonderful people from hospice.
