McCammon, Mary F.
Mary F. McCammon, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died at her home on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, after a short and dignified battle with cancer. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick Catholic Church by the Rev. David Beckman. Family inurnment: Mount Calvary Cemetery. A vigil service will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Survivors include her children, Beverly Deskins (Roy Ebers) of Punta Gorda, Fla., Gena McLaughlin (Torger Hendrickson) of Cedar Rapids, Patrick (Valerie) McCammon of Fort Wayne, Ind. and Gail Dawson (Dennis Kaiser) of Davenport; five grandchildren, Matthew Crane, Rachel Deskins, Victoria (Chad) Chihak, Meredith (Matthew) Finnie and Ted Dawson; and six great-grandchildren, Grace, Mary, Lilly, Riley, Brad and Andrew.
Mary was born June 19, 1925, in Cedar Rapids, to Philip and Mary Berger. She married Robert E. McCammon on Nov. 14, 1945. He died in 1993. Mary was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. As a lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids, she leaves many friends behind.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Luke's Hospice.
