Duke, Edwina 'Mickey'
Edwina “Mickey” Duke, 58, of 1509 Eighth Ave. SE, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center. Memorial services: 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Inurnment: Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Survivors include her husband, Donald A. Duke; her sons, George W. Johnson, Styles D. Howard and Darnel D. Johnson, all of Cedar Rapids; a stepson, Kevin A. Duke of Des Moines; a stepdaughter, Yolanda S. Duke of Atlanta, Ga.; a brother, Michael Johnson of Cedar Rapids; four sisters, Hilda Dawson of Cedar Rapids, Susan Johnson of Rochester, Minn., Tracey Dawson of Kansas City, Kan., and Jane Johnson of California; and 15 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Phyllis Ayers; and a brother, Kelley Johnson.
Edwina was born Oct. 31, 1952, in Iowa City, the daughter of Raymond and Elizabeth (Kelley) Johnson. She married Donald A. Duke on Sept. 10, 1994, in Cedar Rapids and was a cook supervisor for Mercy Medical Center.
She enjoyed bingo, traveling, singing and cooking. Edwina was a fun loving and caring person and was well like by all who knew her.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A memorial fund has been established.
