McGinty, Reta Mae
Reta Mae McGinty, 74, of Whittier, went Home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 18, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. Services: 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 20, at Oakland Church of the Nazarene, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Tom Darland and the Rev. Dwight Neuenschwander. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. today at the church in Cedar Rapids. Burial: Wilcox Cemetery, Viola. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Dave; children, Becky (Don Campbell) McGinty of Mount Vernon, Marilyn (George) Mantor of Marion, Larry (Karla) McGinty of Cedar Rapids and Melody (Dave) Dvorak of Viola; eight grandchildren, Shanna, Justin, Garrett, Amanda, Victoria, Blake, Brandon and Heather; eight great-grandchildren, Preston, Sparrow, Hunter, Andrea, Ryan, Leigha, Kyle and Jason; sister, Carol (Roy) Jahde of Lakeview; aunt, Emily Davis of Cedar Rapids; and a loving extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jean Rabb; and brother, Bill Butler.
Reta was born Dec. 15, 1935, in Brandon, the daughter of Elmer and Susie (Kearns) Butler. She graduated from Roosevelt High School, Des Moines, in 1955. Reta married David McGinty on July 6, 1956, in Grinnell. She was proud to have been a lifelong homemaker, and was a member of Oakland Church of the Nazarene, Cedar Rapids.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Reta's memory.
