Benedict, Michael Dennis

Michael Dennis Benedict, 60, of Anamosa, died Monday, March 26, 2012, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 30, at the Viola Methodist Church. Jim May will officiate at the service. Interment will be at Wilcox Cemetery in Viola. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa.

Surviving are his wife, Cathy; son, Damien (Nikki) of Anamosa; two brothers, Roger (Anita) of Monticello and Roy of Anamosa; two grandchildren, Trevor and Kathryn; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Michael Dennis Benedict was born June 6, 1951, in Monticello, Iowa, the son of Ernest and Lola (Long) Benedict. He was a 1969 graduate of Monticello High School. On Nov. 2, 1973, Michael and Cathy Behnke were united in marriage in Anamosa. Michael had worked for Energy Manufacturing in Monticello starting in 1973.

He was a member of Viola Methodist Church in Viola for 14 years. He enjoyed music, played the drums in Kents Kountry Kombo and Moonshine bands, traveling, camping and cooking. But the thing he treasured most was the time he was given to spend with his family and loved ones.

He will be missed dearly by those closest to him.
