Coyle, Roberta 'Bert'
Roberta “Bert” Coyle, 80, of Monticello, Iowa, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at Kramer Funeral Home, Monticello, where a vigil service will be held at 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Kramer Funeral Home, Monticello, with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Keith Birch.
Bert was born on Oct. 19, 1931 in Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Eloise Schmidt Wilcox. She married John “Bud” Coyle on Jan. 30, 1952, and recently celebrated 60 years together.
Bert loved weekend trips to Tama, visiting and entertaining on her porch during fair week and the Fourth of July and baking Christmas cookies and candy, but most of all, baby-sitting her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her granddogs.
Bert was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend who put everyone before herself. She will be forever loved and missed.
Survivors include her husband, Bud; children, Lynn (Bob) Dotterwich, Gary Coyle and Lori (Larry) Jensen, all of Monticello, and Terry Coyle of Cedar Rapids, five grandchildren: Angie (Corey) Fairley, Chris (Kelly) Westphal, Cory Westphal, and Abby and Mitchell Jensen, six great-grandchildren, Logan, Caleb, Brock and Courtney Westphal, and Austin and Aubree Fairley; one brother, Steve (Darlene) Wilcox of Monticello; many in-laws, nephews and nieces; and her granddogs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Robert; one sister, Marlene; and daughter-in-law, Karel.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
