Five vying to be crowned Johnson County Fair queen

IOWA CITY - Five candidates are vying to be crowned queen at this year's Johnson County Fair.
Candidates are Morgan Parthemore of Oxford, daughter of John and Kimberly Martin; Makayla Lindemann of Solon, daughter of David and Brenda Lindemann; Creigh Rourke of Iowa City, daughter of Rich and Mandy Rourke; Greta Schmidt of Iowa City, daughter of Benjamin and Elsa Schmidt; and Elizabeth Uthoff of Solon, daughter of Vince and Ann Uthoff.
The competition takes place at 6 p.m. Monday in the Variety Tent at the Johnson County Fairgrounds, 4261 Oak Crest Hill Road SE, Iowa City.
Admission is free.
This year's fair runs Monday through Thursday.
Other events scheduled for Monday include:
l Noon - Ugly Cake Contest.
l 4 p.m. - Rubber Chicken Throwing Contest.
l 5 to 7 p.m. - Kiddie Tractor Pull.
l 7 to 10 p.m. - Truck & Tractor Pull.
l 8 to 10 p.m. - Country music artists.
