Barbara A. Underwood, 70, of Reedsburg, Wis., passed away peacefully Friday, April 26, 2013, at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison.She was born on June 22, 1942, in Vinton, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Gerda (Harder) Ullerich.Barbara grew up in rural Dysart, Iowa, and later graduated from Geneseo High School in Buckingham, Iowa.She was married for 26 years and raised a family of seven children.

Barbara was an extremely positive person who celebrated life.She had an enthusiasm that was contagious and that became very apparent as she battled and overcame several health obstacles over the years.Her children were inspired by her strength and perseverance.

Barbara enjoyed quilting, sewing, and baking. She worked on puzzles, was a Phase Ten card shark, worked in her gardens, both floral and vegetable, and was also a NASCAR enthusiast.Above all, she cherished the time she spent with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her son, Daniel Edward Underwood.

Barbara is survived by her children, Rebecca (Tim) Edie of Sidney, Ark., Stephen (Dale) Underwood of Garrison, Iowa,Dianna (Lyndon) Iddings of Alberta, Canada,Lowell (Elizabeth) Underwood of Fairfax, Iowa, Lisa Lee of DesMoines, Iowa, and Ryan (Jill) Hill of Mount Vernon, Iowa; grandchildren, Jeremie Wilcox, Jeffrey (Allison) Wilcox, Jessica (Sheldon) Maly, Jacqueline (Greg) Young, Melissa, Michelle, Grace and Grant Underwood, JoAnne, James and Leanna Iddings, Hannah, Bethany, and Abigail Underwood, Alexis, Phoenix, and Logan Lee, and Ethan, Adrienne, and Gracie Hill; great-grandchildren, Ty Michael and Isabella Wilcox, Logan Wilcox, Colin, Chase, and Caden Maly, Graeme and Elsa Young, and Giatano Jones;brothers and sisters, Brenda (Greg) Allers of La Porte City, Iowa,Eileen Rogers of Ridgeland, Kay (Dave) Holm of Jefferson,Renee (Dale) Abrahamson of Fairchild,Edward (Allison) Ullerich of Warrens; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

We celebrate Barbara's life with a service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, Hwy 33, Reedsburg.Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church.Private family burial will take place in the Hatfield Cemetery.

Farber Funeral Home, Reedsburg, is assisting the family with arrangements.
