Customers visiting the new Aldi supermarket opening Thursday in Coralville will see high ceilings, natural lighting and environmentally-friendly building materials.
The 17,826-square-foot store at 2750 Heartland Dr. also will feature energy-saving refrigeration equipment and light bulbs. The store, which accepts cash, debit and EBT cards, will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays.
'As Aldi continues to grow in Eastern Iowa, we are pleased to open this new Coralville location to help more customers stretch their dollars even further,” said Heather Moore, Dwight division vice president for Aldi.
When Aldi announced plans for the Coralville store in July, Moore said the Coralville store would employ between 10 and 12 people.
'We always saw the Coralville-Iowa City market as a two-store market, but it was just a matter of finding the right site,” she said.
With more than 1,400 stores in 32 states, Aldi plans to add an average of 130 new stores each year over the next several years. The Essen, Germany-based supermarket chain operates Eastern Iowa stores in Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Marion, Bettendorf, Burlington, Centerville, Clinton, Council Bluffs, Davenport, Dubuque, Mason City, Mount Pleasant and Muscatine.
