DeLano, Eva Jean
Eva Jean DeLano, 54, of 6000 Eastview Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, April 30, 2011, at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Palo United Methodist Church, Palo by the Rev. John Howerton. Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Teahen Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Eva is survived by her husband, David; nine siblings, Steve Ward of Apple Valley, Minn., Mary Ward Glosser and Tim (Pam) Ward, both of Ottumwa, Nadine (Dan) Stark of Cedar Rapids, SueEllen (Jeff) Salisbury of Iowa City, Ronald (Debby) Ward of Hannibal, Mo., Chris Ward of West Branch, Phillip Ward of Ottumwa, and Shelley (Jerry) Gramke of Memphis, Tenn.; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Charlene Ward.
Eva was born Jan. 7, 1957, in Ottumwa, the daughter of Stanley and Marie (Kurtz) Ward. She married David DeLano on Oct. 14, 1983, in Cedar Rapids. She owned and operated DeNails by Eva Nail Salon for eight years.
Eva will be remembered for her crafts, clothes and making candy with her nieces and nephews who she loved so very much. She enjoyed rescuing greyhounds and had many other children with fur. Eva also enjoyed gardening. Spending time with her family and friends was the time she cherished the most.
