Duffey Sr., Paul Leo

Paul Leo Duffey Sr., 79, of Iowa Park, Texas, formerly of Lone Tree, died Jan. 17, 2010, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Graveside memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Lone Tree Cemetery with Carol Kaalberg officiating. The American Legion of Lone Tree will preside over military honors.

Survivors include his wife, Velma Jean (Forwald) Duffey; his children, Jerry of Hampton, Va., Paul Jr. of Iowa Park, Texas, Theresa Abbott of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Maureen Wright of Watauga, Texas; a brother, Danial Duffey of Hills; two sisters, Theresa Samualson of Ames and Ann Pauley of Coralville; 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter Duffey and Theresa (Driscoll) Duffey; brothers, Harold, Eugene, Richard, Regis and Peter; and sisters, MaryAgnes Schneider and Lavera Muller.

Paul was born in Holbrook, Iowa, on Sept. 30, 1930, and moved to Lone Tree in 1946. He married Velma Jean Forwald on Dec. 27, 1951, in Lone Tree.

He began his military career with the United States Air Force and served from October 1951 to 1955. He served as a civilian aircraft instructor most of his career, retiring in 1991. His final service was as the world wide course maintenance training manager for the F-15 program. He was stationed in Texas, Illinois, Ohio and Florida and traveled extensively around the world.

Paul was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wichita Falls, Texas, and the Knights of Columbus in Burkburnett, Texas.
