James L. "Jim" Wire, 63, of Waterloo, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died at Ravenwood Specialty Care on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015, from complications of surgery.
He was born Dec. 2, 1951, in Freeport, Ill., son of Leslie and Heloise Klentz Wire. Jim married Cynthia Ewig in 1978 in Cedar Rapids. He grad-uated from Hononegah High School in Rockton, Ill., and Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis.
Jim worked for Rockwell Collins for 12 years, then became an instructor at Hawkeye Community College, Waterloo.
Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Wire, Waterloo; daughter, Jennifer (Grant) Robbins, Manchester; son, David Wire, Golden, Colo.; stepdaughter, Lori (Rob) Comes, Miami, Fla.; mother, Heloise Wire, Waterloo; two grand-children, Gabe and Remy Robbins; and three stepgrandchildren, Josh, Amber and Nick Comes.
He was preceded in death by his father and sister, Janis Wire.
There will be no services at this time. Burial will take place in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Freeport, Ill. Arrangements by Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo.
