Lorna Mae King, 93, of Apache Junction, Ariz., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017. Services: 11:30 a.m. May 28 at Memory Gardens in Iowa City.
Our beloved Mom will be missed. She was born May 9, 1924, in Iowa City. She retired from Quaker Oats.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Agnes Matthes of Kalona; and husband, Joseph King.
She and her husband lived in Arizona for more than 30 years. She lived life with compassion for her friends and family and her love for all animals. Her life was full of laughter and great memories that her family will treasure.
She is survived by her two daughters, Sandra Hutchcroft (Jay), and her granddaughters, Tamara and Sherry, and Catherine Wray (Charles) and her grandsons, Chad and Joshua; three great-grandchildren; and her brother, Edwin Matthes of Riverside.
Special thank you to Gwen, Ardis and Murey and Sherry from Senior Cottages in Apache Junction, where she was able to live independently with the help of these great friends. Her friends filled her life with joy.
