Sue A. Novak, 67, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 3, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, with
the Rev. Kevin Moore presiding. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, at the funeral home. Burial at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Sue was born Oct. 5, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Richard and Martha (Stolba) Groat. On Sept. 8, 1979, she married Donald E. Novak. Sue worked as a unit secretary for St. Luke's Hospital's Emergency Room for 40-plus years. She was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church and volunteered at the Humane Society and for Animeals. Sue was an avid Cubs fan.
Sue is survived by her husband, Donald Novak of Cedar Rapids; siblings, Jerry (Jim) Buttleman of Cedar Rapids, Bob Groat of Colorado, Darold (Mary) Groat of Colorado and Pat (Jeff) Megown of Marion; many nieces and nephews; and "the kids."
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Martha Groat.
Memorials may be made to the Cedar Valley Humane Society or Sharon United Methodist Church in Sue's memory.
