Classes at Kirkwood's main campus resume after 'domestic incident'
UPDATE: Classes at Kirkwood Community College's main campus resumed Thursday after being cancelled briefly after a "domestic incident" at the school.
Here's the news release sent out by Kirkwood Thursday afternoon:
"Kirkwood Community College had a domestic incident on campus today at approximately 12:45 p.m. that involved a possible gun on campus.
The Cedar Rapids Police Department and Kirkwood authorities were unable to locate the individual involved. Since safety of students and staff is a top priority, the college decided to close the campus.
State Patrol in Anamosa located the individual just seconds after the alert was sent. Since the situation has been resolved, classes resumed as scheduled at 2 p.m."
