Decorah's Olejniczak wins national award

Longtime Decorah High School baseball coach Dennis Olejniczak has been named National High School Baseball Coach of the Year by the National High School Athletic Coaches Association.
In his 46th season at Decorah, Olejniczak received the award on a banquet Wednesday night at Minneapolis. "Coach O" has led Decorah to 22 Northeast Iowa Conference Titles and nine state tournaments in his tenure. That includes three state championships and five state runner-up finishes.
He is second all-time nationally with 1,209 victories, behind only Northeast Iowa coaching cohort Gene Schultz of Lansing Kee.
