Two Kalona residents were arrested on charges of aiding and abetting and being an accessory to a felony on Wednesday after authorities say they helped a man that was arrested on evidence of methamphetamine manufacturing.
Reports indicate that Kathy S. Carlson, 48, and Scott C. Carlson, 47, of 1431 Angle Road, allowed Roger A. Schropp, 45, to live at their residence.
Schropp was arrested after authorities executed a narcotics search warrant at the Carlson residence and found evidence of methamphetamine manufacturing on July 3.
Kathy Carlson is accused of being an accessory to a felony after she allegedly admitted to authorities that she had observed Schropp with a “one pot” container she believed to be methamphetamine.
According to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, Kathy Carlson allowed Schropp to live in her shed, where she believed he was continuing to manufacture methamphetamine, and also helped to provide Schropp with pseudo ephedrine on two separate occasions.
Scott Carlson is accused of two counts of aiding and abetting, which are class B felonies. He allegedly admitted to learning how to manufacture methamphetamine from Schropp and to assisting him on multiple occasions by purchasing items needed for methamphetamine manufacturing.
Scott Carlson also allegedly admitted that he had driven his vehicle from Kalona to Cedar Rapids while Schropp released pressure from an active “one pot” methamphetamine container, Johnson County Sheriff's Office records indicate.
Kathy Carlson, Scott Carlson and Roger Schropp were being held at the Johnson County Jail on Thursday morning. Schropp has been in custody since July 3 on a $6,000 cash-only bond.
