The Johnson County primaries saw record turnout, according to a tweet from Johnson County Auditor Travis Weipert.
Turn out surpassed 1994's primary election record of 13,418, according to the Johnson County Auditor's Office records. That year, a primary for the Republican nomination for government between incumbent Terry Branstad and Congressman Fred Grandy helped that turnout.
The Democratic primary record of 11,066 votes in 2006 was also broken.
We've been too busy to tweet much but we've already passed the overall primary turnout record set in 1994 and the Democratic record set in 2006.June 6, 2018
