Joanne Meeks, 81, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2014, at the Anamosa Care Center following a sudden illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Anamosa, with interment in Antioch Cemetery. Visitation will start at 4 p.m. Monday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, with a parish Vigil service, and continue until 7 p.m.

Surviving str her husband, Eldon; two children, Lisa (Mike) Clark and John (Nancy) Meeks, both of Anamosa; a sister, Carol (Jan) Quarberg, Nelson, Wis.; two brothers, Jim (Shirley) Chihak, Rochester, Minn., and Tony (Carol) Chihak, Stewartville, Minn.; and a sister-in-law, Pauline Reinick, Milwaukee, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Catherine and Marion; and in-laws, Lee Shannon, Wallace Reinick, Dr. Gerald and Mildred Brown.
Joanne Margaret Chihak was born in Lourdes, Iowa, on March 9, 1933, the daughter of Adolph and Clara Marion Chihak. Joanne graduated from the Iowa School for the Deaf in Council Bluffs in 1953. She worked eight years at Allen Hospital in Waterloo. On Oct. 22, 1966, Joanne married Eldon Meeks in Elma, Iowa. The couple have made Anamosa their home since that time. Joanne was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
