Walter, Regina
Regina Walter, 96, of Watkins, died Monday, April 20, 2010, of natural causes at Mercy Medical Center, Center Rapids. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, St. Patrick's Church, Watkins, with Father Jack McClure officiating. Burial: St. Patrick's, Watkins. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the church, with a rosary at 7 p.m. Brosh Funeral Service, Norway, is handling arrangements.
Survivors include her children, Russell and Sharon Walter of Norway, Marvin and Jan Walter of Ames, Pat and Dave Jansma of Waco, Texas, and Kathy and Jim Ilemister of Plant City, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters and two brothers.
Regina was born May 27, 1913, in Marengo Iowa, to Clarence and Florence Simons Brown. She married Ralph Walter, he died Dec. 7, 1981.
She was a graduate of Marengo High School and taught four year in Iowa at Benton County Country schools. She also did house work and substitute teaching for many years.
Thanks to personnel at Evergreen Estates in Cedar Rapids and Mercy Hospice personnel.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be made for a memorial at Blairstown Library.
