Raymond S. Lauderdale, 67, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, May 5, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics while recovering from a recent sudden heart surgery. A celebration of life will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Inurnment will be in Czech National Cemetery Columbarium. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Wednesday at Brosh Chapel.
Raymond was born Sept. 1, 1950, in New Hampton, the son of Francis and Viola (Gevock) Lauderdale. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Regis High School, Class of 1968. He served in the U.S. Air Force. Ray enjoyed traveling, collecting antiques, painting in recent times and, most of all, spending time with his loving family and friends.
Ray is survived by his beloved dog, Snickers; his brothers, Frank (Mary) Lauderdale and Mike (Kellie) Lauderdale, both of Cedar Rapids; as well as his nieces and nephews, Chris (Mindy) Lauderdale, Cara (Dave) Eberle, Jordan Lauderdale and Taylor Lauderdale; his great-nieces and nephews, Kimberly, David, Dalton, Xander and Grace; and a special friend Jackie Pollock.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; and his partner of 34 years, Dan Zear, who died Oct. 24, 2011.
