Julie Lynn Ironside, 43, of Ottumwa, died at 11:22 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2018, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
She was born Sept. 12, 1975, in Ottumwa to Tom and Cheryl Shepard Dawson. Julie married Joshua Ironside on May 31, 2003. She was a 1993 graduate of Ottumwa High School, where she participated in cheer-leading and Meistersingers and loved to sing. From ages 3 to 16, she was in Premier Dance. She attended Indian Hills Community College and earned her pharmacy tech degree. She lived in Cedar Rapids for a short time before moving back to Ottumwa in 2013. Julie had worked at Target, Menards and Hy-Vee Drugstore.
Julie was a member of Davis Street Christian Church, where she was a member of the Crochet Club, Women's Group and served on the membership committee. She was a Breast Cancer Awareness advocate. Julie loved to shop, go camping, flowers, gardening, watch all kinds of movies, visit the ocean, but most importantly loved taking care of her kids.
Survivors include her husband, Josh; her children, Will, Brooke and Libby Ironside; her parents, Tom and Cheryl Dawson; two brothers, Justin (Angie) Dawson of Cape Coral, Fla., and Daniel Dawson of Ankeny; nieces and nephews, Felicity, Wyatt, Hailey, Ava and Henry; brother-in-law, Jake (Jayme) Ironside; and father- and mother-in-law, Bill and Joan Ironside of Bloomfield.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, Raymond and Ruth Dawson and Larry and Helen Shepard.
Her body has been cremated. A time to celebrate her life will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Davis Street Christian Church in Ottumwa.
Memorials may be made to the family or Davis Street Christian Church.
