CORALVILLE - The state's largest credit union has broken ground for an office in Coralville.
Waterloo-based Veridian Credit Union is building its seventh location in the Cedar Rapids-Iowa City Corridor at 704 Second St.
The 4,000-square-foot full service office will have three drive-up lanes, a drive-up ATM, six teller stations, a self-serve coin machine, safe-deposit boxes and office space dedicated to mortgage and consumer lending.
The new branch is expected to be a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified building, meaning it will have high-efficiency mechanical, electrical and irrigation equipment, as well as energy-efficient windows and additional “green” features. The goal is to divert a minimum of 75 percent of the construction waste from the landfill and use building products with high recycled content.
Primus Construction of Cedar Rapids is the designer and general contractor for the project. Completion is expected in the fall.
“Our design team has five years of experience with LEED certification for a number of commercial projects, and we're currently working on several projects in the Cedar Rapids-Iowa City Corridor,” said David Selk of Primus. “Green building has a profound impact on our natural environment, economy, health and productivity.”
Justin Mager, a regional manager at Veridian, said the credit union is looking forward to operating a branch in Coralville.
“The new branch will provide more convenient services to our existing members in the Corridor and bring the opportunity to develop new relationships in a vibrant community like Coralville,” Mager said.
Veridian, with deposits of $1.8 billion, has 25 branches in Iowa, including five in the Cedar Rapids area and an office in Iowa City.
