Luella J. "Sally" Meier, 89, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, at the United Methodist Church in Marion. The family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials, if desired, may be directed to the family.
Luella was born Sept. 7, 1927, in Cedar Rapids to Harry and Lela Wheeler Wasendorf. She was raised in Cedar Rapids and attended McKinley High School.
On Nov. 10, 1946, she was united in marriage to Karl Meier, and to this union four children were born.
Luella was employed by May's Drug in Cedar Rapids and later by the Marion Independent School District in its hot lunch program.
She enjoyed playing bingo, watching her "stories" "General Hospital," "Roy Rogers" and "Gene Autry show" and going to casinos, but her biggest passion in life was spending time with her grandchildren.
Luella will be missed by her sons, Danny (Sandy) Meier and Terry (Linda) Meier; daughter, Susan (Doug) Lange; brother, Richard (Judy) Duncan; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Karl, of 60 years; sisters, Arlene Laughridge and June Sturgeon; and brothers, John Wasendorf and Edward Duncan Jr.
