Keller, Charles 'Charlie' Everett
Charles “Charlie” Everett Keller, 74, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, May 21, 2010, in his home. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, at First Church of the Nazarene, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Tim Carter. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Military honors will be provided.
Survivors include his wife, D. Jorene “Ann”; children, Sherry Caskey (Scott Grimm) of Williamsburg, David (Teresa) Young of Duncan, Okla., Jan (Randy) Kelchen of Dundee, Iowa, Beth Sauer of Central City, Charity (Grant) Evers of Solon and Mark Keller and family; grandchildren, Ben (Meredith) Caskey, Jeff (Ale) Caskey, Brian (Katie) Caskey, Ryan Young, Tiffany Kelchen, Jamie (Jeff) Orr, Tyler Kelchen, Keeley Sauer, Christina Keller and Brady Evers. Also surviving are two great-grandchildren, Olivia Caskey and Griffin Caskey; brother, Walt (Marilyn) Keller of Redondo Beach, Calif.; sisters, Charlotte (Ray) VonSprecken of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho and Pat (Ed) Machacek of Norway, Iowa; special friends, Hal and Bonnie Nissen, Rick, Deb, Alicia and Chelsea Anderson; and his First Church of the Nazarene church family.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Keller, who died in infancy; two grandchildren, Zachary Young and Amanda Young; two sons-in-law, Larry Caskey and Jim Sauer; and parents-in-law, Tom and Wanda Keeley.
Born Sept. 18, 1935, in Iowa City, Charlie was the son of Charles and Mildred (Schearer) Keller. He served his country in the U.S. Army. On July 5, 1977, he was united in marriage to D. Jorene “Ann” Keeley in Kalispell, Mont. He worked as a service tech for Iowa Manufacturing.
Charlie was an excellent husband, father, grandfather and friend. He attended First Church of the Nazarene and was a member of the Machinist Union 831. He was a sports fan, enjoying Iowa Hawkeye football, fishing, NASCAR and going to the casinos.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Kim, Darren, Lynn and the team at Hospice of Mercy.
