Lewis, Kathleen Ethel
Kathleen Ethel Lewis, 73, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, with Rev. W. Bramwell Harnish presiding. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Brosh Chapel. Inurnment will be held in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Kathleen was born May 31, 1937, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Ralph and Viola (Orr) Franks. She married Richard Lewis on June 30, 1956, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Kathleen worked at The Gazette for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with family, decorating cakes, ceramics, sewing and working on many types of crafts. Kathleen raced at Hawkeye Downs in the Women on Wheels Class. She was known for deviled eggs and her rhubarb pie. Kathleen was a very hard-working and devoted person. She was a member of the Moose Lodge for over 30 years.
Kathleen is survived by her husband, Richard; her children, Charles J. Lewis of Cedar Rapids, William K. (SueAnn) Lewis of Cedar Rapids, and Crystal D. Lewis of Mount Vernon; her grandchildren, Michael, Joseph, Jamie, Jennifer, Kelly, Andrew, Joseph, and Jeffrey; and one great-grandson, Blaken; brothers, Claude Franks of Tuscon, Ariz., and Henry Franks of Cedar Rapids.
Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ralph Franks; and a sister, Sue Ann Lewis.
