RICHARD PACE
Wyoming
Richard "Dick" Pace passed away at his home on March 15, 2015. Funeral services will be at Wyoming United Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 19. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Wyoming. Burial will be at the Wyoming Cemetery.
Richard Wentworth Pace was born May 22, 1936, to Earnest Dean Pace and Leta Tucker Pace in Harrison, Ark. He attended school in Rogers, Ark., and Harrison, Ark. Dick moved to Iowa in 1957. On June 7, 1959, Dick married Virginia Buresh in Wyoming.
Dick was a member of the Wyoming United Methodist Church. He served his country as a member of the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1960. He was a Top Secret Command Clerk in the Air Force Security Service. He was stationed at St. Lawrence Island in Alaska. Dick worked as a welder for 20 years at FMC in Cedar Rapids.
In 1974, Dick fulfilled his dream of farming and he and Virginia established a dairy farm, milking Jersey cows northeast of Wyoming. Due to Dick's health, they sold the cows in 2000, and for a few years raised goats.
Dick was proud to call himself a farmer and no matter how hard the work, how long the day, or how big the challenge, he was there to fulfill his responsibility to the land and to the animals he tended.
Dick was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He leaves us with many happy memories, great stories to tell and some unique "Dick" wisdom.
Dick is survived by his wife, Virginia; his daughters, Cindy (Steve) Dirks of Wyoming, Jennifer (Tom) Orr of Canton and Patti (Brian) Tracy of Wyoming; grandsons, Cody Dirks, Brandon Dirks, Cody Tracy, Ethan Orr and Jensen Orr; a brother, Roy Pace of Corinth, Miss.; a sister, Beverly Ann Thomas of Rogers, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter in infancy, five brothers, three stepsisters and his loving cat, Sparky.
