Martin, Franklin M.

Franklin M. Martin, 79, of Beverly Hills, Fla., formerly of Sherrard, Ill., died Sunday, March 17, 2013, at Hospice of Citrus County in Lecanto, Fla. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 24, at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island, Ill. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Rock Island National Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross.

Franklin was born Sept. 16, 1933, in Tipton, Iowa, the son of Maynard C. and Edna (McAfee) Martin. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Korean era. He married Linette B. Zeitler. She preceded him in death on April 4, 2008.

Franklin worked as a sales representative for Wonder Bread for 43 years. In his free time, he enjoyed boating, NASCAR, bowling, and woodworking.

Survivors include his son, Frank D. Martin, Wesley Chapel, Fla.; daughter, Annette (Dana) Krider, New Windsor, Ill.; sisters, Mary Louise (Kerry) Vrooman, Roberta (Wes) Hamdorf, Priscella (Al) Highland and Marilyn Smith; grandchildren, Michelle, Christopher and Amanda; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Linette, his parents, and sons, Rickey W. and Franklin R. Martin, preceded Mr. Martin in death.
