Bonnie Joan Hamdorf, 78, of Lowden, passed away Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, at her home in Massillon, surrounded by her family. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Iowa Cremation.
Bonnie was born on Aug. 16, 1937, in Clarence, Iowa, the daughter of Forrest and Esther (Goldsmith) Woode. She graduated from Clarence High School. She married Virgil Hamdorf on Sept. 15, 1956, in Walcott. Bonnie and Virgil lived in Massillon. Bonnie enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Massillon Community Club.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Virgil; and her children, Diane Garien, Davenport, Allen (Vicki) Hamdorf, Lowden and Denise (Barry) Roberts, Massillon; son-in-law, Mike Gritton, Tipton; grandchildren, Mikki (Tiffany), Ankeny, Brittni (Chad) Reifschneider, Story City, Maci, Melbourne, Australia, Brandi, Pella, Tyler Sawyer, Lisbon, Mallory Gritton, Clarence, Cara Roberts, Massillon, and Mandie (Chip) Mau, Leander, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Grace, Taylor, Ben, Carter, Maddie, Jaylyn, Landry, Kase, Maclin and Landon.
Also surviving are brother, Robert E. (Marilyn) Woode, Davenport; sister, Sandra Willert, Tipton; sister-in-law, Arlene Ruchotzke, Maquoketa; brother-in-law, Robert (Doreen) Hamdorf, Lowden; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Donna.
