Letter: Reader recommends Citizens Police Academy

A few years ago I had the opportunity to attend the Citizens Police Academy and it was fantastic. I was allowed to shoot a Glock pistol at the shooting range, to ride with a patrol woman, to observe the communications center, to hear policemen talk about their lives, to drive a squad car on an obstacle course at Hawkeye Downs, to see the K-9 unit, and lots more.
There will be another program starting in March and I highly recommend it. Get a brochure at the police station or call Sgt. Cristy Hamblin. Learn more about our policemen and women.
