Kathleen Florence Walker, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016, at Central Iowa Healthcare in Marshalltown, Iowa. Service: 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at Salem United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at the church. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Lee of Cedar Rapids; mother, Doris Merriam of Boone, Iowa; sisters, Cindy (Don) Lellig of Jesup, Iowa, and Judy (Charlie) Swanson of Dayton, Iowa; children, Floyd (Jolene) Walker of Seattle, Wash., Ginger (Randy) Deaton of Cedar Rapids, John (Jackie) Walker of Cedar Rapids and Jim (Virginia) Walker of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five nieces and nephews; and five great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Kathleen was born on Sept. 10, 1948, in Boone, Iowa, daughter of Robert and Doris (Wiener) Merriam. She graduated from Grand Community High School and Iowa Methodist College in Des Moines with a nursing degree. On March 18, 1973, she married Lee Walker in Boone County. Kathleen was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and Wednesday morning Bible study. She enjoyed shopping, music, and flowers, and was a very kind person.
