U.S. Rep. Dave Loebsack, Iowa's only Democrat in Congress, said through a spokesman Monday he intends as of now to be at President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration.
However, the spokesman said, the representative from Iowa City 'believes Trump and America would be best served if the president-elect would start behaving in a manner more reflective of the leader of the free world.”
At least 26 Democrats have publicly announced they'll not attend Friday's ceremony, according to a count by CNN.
They included Rep. John Lewis, the civil rights icon who last week said he does not see Trump as a legitimate president after assertions of Russian interference in the election.
Last June, Loebsack participated in a sit-in on the House floor led by Lewis over GOP refusals to vote on gun control measures.
