Duffy, Virginia M.
Virginia M. Duffy, 93, a resident of Living Center East, passed away Monday, Nov. 28, 2011. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, where a rosary will start at 3:30 p.m. and a wake service at 7 p.m. Friends may also call one hour before services Saturday at the church. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a son, Ronald (Patricia) Duffy of Cedar Rapids; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Duffy of Merrillville, Ind.; 13 grandchildren, Laura (Mike) Gray of Minnesota, Cynthia (Robert) Palmer of Arizona, Daniel (Bridget) Duffy of Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., Suzy Hartgarten of Arizona, Scott (Dena) Duffy of Cedar Rapids, Angela (Doug) Gough of Indiana, Shannan (Terry) Wilson of Cedar Rapids, Erin (Dan) Kopecky of Cedar Rapids, Sarah Duffy, of Hiawatha, Sharon (Scott) Sunderman of Texas, Sean (Molly) Duffy of Arizona, Shelly (Mark) Hartman of Fort Dodge, and Michael (Lisa) Duffy of Marion; 33 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Thomas, Francis, Robert and Patrick; a grandson; and 12 brothers and sisters.
Virginia was born Nov. 19, 1918, in Temple Hill, Iowa, the youngest of 13 children of John and Mary (Donahue) Supple. She attended Temple Hill Catholic School. She married Herbert T. Duffy in 1936. He died April 11, 1968. Virginia worked at Rockwell Collins for 29 years. Virginia enjoyed her family and friends, gardening, and cooking for everyone.
