Roger Edward Zumbach, 78, of Coggon, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at his home. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018, at Peace Lutheran Church, Ryan. The family will also greet friends one hour prior to service at the church on Monday. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello.
Roger was born April 18, 1939, in Monticello, Iowa, the son of Edward and Viola (Paulsen) Zumbach. He graduated from Coggon High School in 1957. Roger was baptized at Reformed Church, Monticello, and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church, Ryan, in 1953. He was a lifelong farmer. As a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Roger was very active, serving on many committees. He loved to farm and was proud to be born and raised on the family farm.
He is survived by his fiancée of over 40 years, Barbara Null of Monticello; sisters, Doris Anderson of Marion and Carol Hanssen (Pete) Ponder of Monticello; eight nieces and nephews, Alan Anderson of Overland Park, Kan., Steve Anderson of Altoona, Kevin Anderson of Independence, Mo., Kim Richardt of Cedar Rapids, Debbie Bemer of Cedar Rapids, Jeff Anderson of Cedar Rapids, Marcia Carr of Ankeny and Kari Jones of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and seven great-nieces and nephews.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Bob Hanssen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in Roger's memory.
