Lown, Mackenzie Lynn
Mackenzie Lynn Lown, 14, of Amana, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, of injuries suffered in an automobile accident. Funeral services for Mackenzie will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at St. Patrick's Church, 324 Church St., Fairfax, with Father Dustin Vu officiating. Burial will be at Hala Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 6 p.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Fairfax. Friends are welcome to join the family in a Celebration of Life for Mackenzie on Sunday, Oct. 23, from noon to 4 p.m. at Bella Sala, 3232 Jasper Ave., Tiffin.
Mackenzie was born April 24, 1997, in Cedar Rapids. She attended elementary and middle school at Center Point-Urbana. She spent the last three years at Clear Creek Amana; she was a freshman at the high school.
Mackenzie was energetic and involved in school activities. She loved dance, sports and running. She was a member of the track, cross country and dance teams. Mackenzie served on student council, sang in the choir and was an honor student. She was talkative, determined and always the life of the party.
Mackenzie was a beautiful and loving daughter, sister, niece, granddaughter and a friend to everyone she knew. She will be greatly missed by all her family, friends and classmates.
Mackenzie is survived by her parents, Kelly (Jake) Smith of Amana and Michael (Teresa Widen) Lown of North Liberty; two brothers, Parker and A.J. Smith; one sister, Kia Widen; her grandparents, Terry (Linda) Watson of Green Mountain, Iowa, Maureen (Donny) Murphy of Cedar Rapids, Randy Smith of Walford, Steve Lown (Karen Mutchler) of Shueyville, Linda Lown of Hiawatha, Dean Widen of Waterloo and Albert (Marilyn) Erixon of Honey Creek, Iowa; her aunts, Theresa, Margie, Stephanie, Emily, Vanessa, Amy, Cari, Kelly, Andrea and Laurie; her uncles, Chad, Matt, Troy, Zach, Mark, Brent, Robert, Andrew, Scott, Michael, Chad, Stephen, Jordan and Boston; special aunts, Mandy, Wendy, Amy, Tara, Cana, Katie, Nicki and Lindsay; and numerous cousins and friends.
Mackenzie was preceded in death by her grandmother, Vicki Watson.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Contributions can be made to the Mackenzie Lown Memorial Fund, c/o Community Savings Bank, 101 Robins Square Ct., Robins, IA 52328.
