Shirley Ann Borst, 88, of Anamosa, Iowa, passed away Friday, Aug. 10, 2018, at Pinicon Place in Anamosa. Cremation has taken place. The family will greet friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion.
A Funeral Liturgy Outside the Mass will follow at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. A private family committal will take place at a later date.
Shirley was born March 7, 1930, in Marinette, Wis., the daughter of Ralph and Lolita (Richards) Perkins. She graduated from Marinette High School and later attended Marinette Teachers College. On June 17, 1950, in Marinette, Shirley was united in marriage to Cornelius Borst. She was employed as a cook at Regis High School and then at Marion Independent School District as a study hall monitor until retiring. Shirley was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. Shirley loved watching all sports, especially her sons' and grandchildren's sporting events.
She is survived by her sons, Larry (Dianne) Borst of Ottumwa, Daniel Borst of Olin, Michael (Cindy) Borst of Olin and Thomas Borst of Marion; grandchildren, Brian, Andrea, Chad, Zachary, Eric, Chad, Justin, Melynda, Melissa, Travis, Preston, Daniel and Todd; and many, many great-grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cornelius; two brothers, Forrest Perkins and Richard Perkins; and grandson, Adam Houston.
