She is survived by four daughters, Linda (Dr. Paul) Von Behren, Jan (Ed) Allaire, Christi (Danny) Jirsa and Vickie (John) Mosby; and eight grand-children, Leslie (Greg) Swartz, Vicki (Shawn) Schuman, Aaron Von Behren, Mark Mohr, Lilly Mosby, Danielle (Mike) Peterson, Alissa (Brad) Ehrenfelt and Randy Jirsa. Those grandchildren blessed Clara with 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie; a sister, Marie Russell; her parents, Henry and Engel Zimmerman; and a grandson, Tyler.
Clara was born Nov. 18, 1928, in Monticello, and lived all of her life in and around this area. She married Loren Bronemann and had two daughters, Linda and Jan. The couple later divorced. She married Johnny Pegorick and added two stepdaughters, Vicki and Christi.
Clara was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was well know for her baking, especially her cinnamon bread, homemade potato salad and deviled eggs. She enjoyed her children and babysat for her grandchildren and others after they retired and moved to Anamosa. Being a farmer's wife, she lived on farms near Monticello, Anamosa and Olin and made friends in all locations.
Her later years were spent in the Anamosa Care Center with Johnnie. She made many friends among the staff and residents. She participated in music and bingo and enjoyed playing cards, making crafts, putting puzzles together and wearing her red hat to functions.
She is survived by many loved ones, family and friends.
Clara was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Anamosa.
