Cox, Francis 'Bud'
Francis “Bud” Cox, 79, of Waterloo, died Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.
He was born May 10, 1930, in Volga, the son of Frank and Florence Feeney Cox. He married Mary Robinson on Aug. 28, 1950, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Volga. Mr. Cox was employed with Rath Packing Co. as a livestock buyer. He then was employed as a feed salesman until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of Waterloo; two sons, Ken of Cedar Falls and John of Waterloo; two daughters, Kathy (Robb) Bevis of Prior Lake, Minn., and Jackie (Jeff “Spike”) Becker of Carroll; five grandchildren, Amy (Darren) Eggersgluess, Joshua Shirk, Bryan Bevis, Katy Bevis and Ben Becker; a brother, John J. Cox of College Station, Texas; two sisters, Mary (Richard “Dick”) Newton of Waterloo and Jean (Don) Von Handorf of Colesburg; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his mother-in-law, Lera Robinson.
Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Edward Catholic Church, Waterloo, with inurnment in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway in Waterloo, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation will continue one hour before services Wednesday at the church.
