Betty Jane Lundquist of Iowa City, Iowa, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at Briarwood Health Care Center in Iowa City. A celebration of Betty's life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Gay and Ciha Funeral Home in Iowa City. Visitation will be held one hour before the service.
Memorial donations may be made in Betty's name to First United Methodist Church of Iowa City or Iowa City Hospice.

Elizabeth "Betty" Jane Ireland was born Feb. 9, 1927, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to the Rev. Horace and Ellen Ireland. She graduated from Nichols High School in 1944 then received her BA degree from Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa, in 1948. She married Louis Harold "Hal" Lundquist June 20, 1948, and they made their home in Iowa City. Hal and Betty bought Halls Gift Shop in May 1951 and later they added Betty's Flowers, Cards Et Cetera and Lundy's Hallmark shops. They worked together while raising a daughter, Ann; and son, Gary Lundquist.
Her family includes children, Ann Lundquist of Drake, Colo., and Gary Lundquist (Barb) of Iowa City; grandchildren,
Stephanie Robinson (Andy) of Ankeny, Jon Lundquist of Iowa City, and Spencer Lundquist of Iowa City; and great-grandchild, Zachary Robinson.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and two sisters.
Betty was a member of the Iowa City First United Methodist Church, church circle, TTT, NN Club and Books and Bagels.
