Lattimer, Ruth Adele
Ruth Adele Lattimer, 84, of Vinton, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at the Windsor Manor in Vinton. As were her wishes, she will be cremated. There will be a service and meal at 3 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Iowa Braille Site Saving School cafeteria, 1002 G Ave., Vinton, Iowa.
Ruth is survived by one sister, Ima Jean Smalley of Vinton; one brother, Dale Franklin of Naples, Fla.; two foster children she and Lester raised, Vicky and Gary Kruse, both of Des Moines; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester in 2004; two sisters, Dorothy Schoonover and Thelma Cabalka; and brothers, Merton and Melvin Franklin.
Ruth Adele Franklin was born July 11, 1928, to Glen and Leola (Finch) Franklin in Traer, Iowa. She married Lester Lattimer in 1955 in Cedar Rapids. They moved to Des Moines after their marriage and lived there until they retired in 1989, then moved back to Vinton. Ruth always enjoyed time spent with her family and friends and in her spare time she enjoyed sewing and reading.
