Jeanne Gulick, 93, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, at Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab in Vinton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home in Vinton with the Rev. Dave Neas officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton.
Jeanne was born Feb. 21, 1923, in Vinton, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Grace Coates Kephart. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Vinton in 1940.
On Feb. 18, 1942, Jeanne was united in marriage with Wayne Gulick in Vinton. The couple farmed together near Mount Auburn. Wayne preceded her in death on July 28, 2002.
Jeanne is survived by two daughters, Kathy (Carlton) Root of Vinton and Karen (Gary) Halva of West Union; four grandchildren, Jessica Salvo of Scottsdale, Ariz., Debbie (Mitch) Madorin of Castle Rock, Colo., Brett (Virginia) Root of Vinton and Jodi (Mike) Geiger of Vinton; and 12 great-grandchildren, Brandan, Mikayla, Cody (Brittany) and Curtis (Jennifer) Geiger, Lindsay and Reed Madorin, Alyssa and Kenidi Root and Danny, Savannah, Tracy and Carrie Halva.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; grandson, Tracy Wayne Halva; granddaughter, Kerry Jeanne Halva-Cash; sister, Margaret "Peg" Long; and brother, Harold Kephart.
A memorial fund has been established.
