Anita Mary Hepker Robinson, 70, of rural Masonville, went to be with the Lord on July 5, 2016.
Anita was born Sept. 15, 1945, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Hubert and Mary (Pline) Hepker. She graduated from Jefferson High School and then nurse's training in Marshalltown.
Anita celebrated 49 years of marriage with Clifford J. "CJ" Robinson. They were married on Oct. 29, 1966.
She is survived by CJ; their four children and 10 grandchildren, whom she adored: Jane Shantz and husband Steve of Greenfield and their children, Jackson, Baley, Keeley and Aryll; Sally Whaley and husband Donnie of Coralville and their daughter, Mollie; Amanda Wright and husband Jeremy of Peoria, Ill., and their children, Olivia and Spencer; Matt Robinson and wife Teresa of Ryan and their daughters, Emma, Evalyn and Estelle. She also is survived by her sister, Letha Sand (Ed, deceased) of Urbana; brother-in-law, Arnie Engelkens of Polo, Ill.; and sister-in-law, Betty Hepker of Swisher.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Eileen Engelkens; and brother, Jerry Hepker.
Anita enjoyed entertaining at her home on the farm, planting flower gardens, reading and writing. For 25 years, she worked as a nurse at the Abbe Center for Community Care, where she developed many lasting friendships.
Anita will be remembered as being vibrant, kind and compassionate. The personal cards and letters she wrote touched the lives of many.
Thank you to Dr. Ghosh and all the staff at The Ghosh Center for their MANY years of care and friendship. Thank you also to UnityPoint Hospice.
Visitation will be Friday, July 8, from 1 to 8 p.m. The family also will greet people one hour before the Celebration of Life service which will be held Saturday, July 9, at 10:30 a.m. All services will be held at Monti Community Center, 2854 Washington Ave., 10 miles west of Ryan.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to Rettsyndrome.org (formerly the International Rett Syndrome Foundation) in honor of Anita's granddaughter, Estelle Anita Robinson; or to The Blesie Tree Foundation to pay kindness forward to other cancer patients.
