CRAIG ROBINSON
Independence
Craig Eugene Robinson, 56, of Independence, died at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids on June 10, 2014, after a long illness. Private family services will be Friday, June 13, at First United Methodist Church in Marion, with the Rev. Mike Morgan officiating. A burial will be at a later date.
Craig is survived by his sister, Vicki (Ralph) Standley of Marion; brother, Rob (Sandy) Robinson of Independence; son, Cooper E. Robinson of Manly; nephews and nieces, Joshua Standley, Meredith (Tim) Frasher, Megan (Simon) Peters, Dr. Matthew Robinson, Mikki (Rem) Scott and Toni Robinson; and five great-nephews and great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll and Jeane Robinson; maternal and paternal grandparents; and an infant sister, Debra.
Craig was born Dec. 2, 1957, in Knoxville, Iowa, to his parents, Carroll and Jeane. He had a variety of jobs over the years, but his first love was over-the-road truck driving. He drove for various companies and liked to think of himself as a "cowboy" of the road as he drove from coast to coast. Injuries prohibited him from driving several years ago, much to his regret.
Craig always had a story to tell and loved to reminisce about family events and could remember details long forgotten by the rest of the family.
Craig was very proud of being the third "CER" in the Robinson family, following grandpa, Clyde Edgar Robinson and Dad, Carroll Eugene Robinson.
Memorials may be directed to the American Kidney Foundation or American Heart Association.
