Cass, Eleanor Douglass
Eleanor Douglass Cass, 79, of Cedar Rapids, passed away April 1, 2013, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, after a brief illness. Upon her request, she was cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Survivors include daughter, Elizabeth Ehrenberger; grandson, Michael Ehrenberger; and cousin, Everett Richardson of Surprise, Ariz.
Born Sept. 29, 1933, in Berwyn, Ill., Eleanor “Ellie” Douglass Cass was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil G. and Ethel H. Douglass.
Ellie lived in LaGrange, Ill., Oklahoma City, Okla., Wellesley, Mass., and West Des Moines. She attended Dana Hall in Wellesley, Mass., and graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in West Des Moines. She attended Grinnell College and graduated from the University of Iowa and then settled in Cedar Rapids, where she was united in marriage to William B. Cass on June 16, 1956.
Ellie was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Junior League and PEO.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
