Brownlee, Marlys K.
Marlys K. Brownlee, 69, of Independence, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at West Village Care Center, Independence, following a short illness. Services: 2 p.m. Friday, First United Methodist Church, Independence, with the Rev. Dennis Bailey officiating. Burial: Mount Hope Cemetery, Independence. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at White Funeral Home, Independence.
Mrs. Brownlee is survived by a son, Jeffrey Hayes of Santa Fe, N.M.; a daughter, Jennifer (Shannon Flood) Hayes of Catonsville, Md.; and a sister, Marcia Poston of Independence.
She was born on May 9, 1940, in Frazee, Minn., the daughter of Theodore and Doris Mae (Long) Flaten. Mrs. Brownlee was an editor for several government agencies. She retired in 1998.
