CHARLES RICHARD "DICK" WALDERBACH

Charles Richard "Dick" Walderbach, 82, of Anamosa, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Dick's body was donated to the University of Iowa Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Dick was born Oct. 30, 1933, in Anamosa, to Charles Raymond and Ellen Gertrude (Grabbe) Walderbach. He
enlisted in the U.S Army Reserves in 1954 and served honorably until 1960. He was united in marriage to JoAnne Driscoll on Oct. 24, 1953. To this union, five sons were born.
Dick worked as a quality engineer at Rockwell Collins for 42 years until his retirement in 1992. During this time, he earned an associate degree from Coe College in Cedar Rapids. He served as a substitute teacher in Bentonville, Ark., for 9 1/2 years and also at Walmart for six years.
He was a member of American Society of Quality Control (ASQC). Dick served as school board president for the North Central Iowa school district in Manly and participated with Iowa Mediation Services.
He officiated baseball, softball and football at various levels and also was a Little League coach. He enjoyed baking, gardening, hunting and woodworking. He especially enjoyed making heirloom gifts for his family members. He was an Iowa Hawkeyes fan.
Dick will be deeply missed by those who loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, JoAnne; sons, Larry (Linda) Walderbach, Brad Walderbach, Mark (Dianne) Walderbach and Kurt (Angie) Walderbach; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are sisters, Phyllis Fiala and Kristine (Warren) Walderbach-Geisler; brothers, Bill (Jane), Bob (Bonnie), Tom (Ann) and Mike (Gayla) Walderbach; and sister-in-law, Karen Faricy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Douglas Walderbach; brother, David Walderbach; brothers-in-law, Harold Fiala and Thomas Driscoll; and sister-in-law, Lousetta Driscoll.
Memorial donations in Dick's name may be made to the University of Iowa Children's Hospital or Unity Point Hospice-St. Luke's.
