Kurth, Roger William

Roger William Kurth, 52, of Lisbon, died suddenly Friday, July 6, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following a heart attack.

Roger was born to Glenn and Betty (Harris) Kurth on Jan. 9, 1960, in Mechanicsville, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years, worked for Alsup Masonry in Lisbon, and had his own business, Over the Top Construction, for many years, after which he worked at Artic Insulation in Marion.

He leaves to mourn his loss his son, Zach O'Conner; his spouse, Janet Kula; his parents, Glenn and Betty; sisters, Debra Kurth, Lisbon, and Diana Pierce (David Derrick), Athens, Ala.; brother, Ronald, Yokohama, Japan; niece, Heather Pullen (Jason); nephew, Vince Pierce; two great-nieces, Monica and Brooklynn, Athens, Ala.; stepsons, Cory and Nick Weber, and his beloved stepgrandchildren, Makayla Weber, Gaby, Cory Jr. and Savannah Weber; and many cousins, aunts and uncles.

Roger's visitation will be Monday, July 9, from 4 until 7 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Choices, Mount Vernon. A celebration of Roger's life will be Tuesday, July 10, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, by the Rev. Sean Hansen. Roger is to be buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville, with military honors.
